A Comparative Study of Amplify-and-Forward and Zero-Forcing Relaying with Different Power Constraints

چکیده
Cooperating nodes in wireless networks need to be power-efficient because once they deployed, as in sensor networks, they might not be recharged or replaced. The choice of relaying technique, therefore, becomes a crucial design parameter. Our work provides a detailed comparative performance analysis of amplify-and-forward and zeroforcing relaying. Our results give valuable insights into the robustness of these two common relaying techniques under different assumptions on power constraints and channel conditions and can be used as a practical guideline in the choice of relaying techniques. Index Terms — Distributed space-time block coding, fading channels, amplify-and-forward relaying, zero-forcing relaying.

Employing Power Allocation to Enhance Zero Forcing Scheme Advantages over Multi-Antenna Multiple Relay Networks
A multi-antenna multiple relay (MAMR) network is considered and a variation of two-hop zero-forcing amplify-forward relaying method is proposed. Deploying ZF method together with application of diagonal power allocation matrices at the relays, it is shown that the overall MAMR network is simplified to M independent single antenna multiple relay (SAMR) networks, where M is the number of source a...

This paper studies optimal power allocation to minimize symbol error rate (SER) of amplify-and-forward cooperative diversity networks. First, we analytically solve optimal power allocation problem to minimize SER for three different scenarios, namely, multi-branch single-relay, single-branch multi-relay and multi-branch multi-relay cooperative diversity networks, all subject to a given total re...
متن کاملMulti-Cell Cooperation Using Subcarrier-Cooperative Two-Way Amplify-and-Forward Relaying
We consider two-way communication between multiple MIMO transceiver pairs that is assisted by non-regenerative half-duplex two-way relays. A generalized system model is formulated in which an arbitrary number of multi-antenna relays can make use of symbol extensions in frequency, e.g. OFDM subcarriers. In contrast to conventional approaches, the relays can forward arbitrary linear combinations ...

In this paper, our objective is maximizing total sum-rate subject to power constraints on total relay transmit power or individual relay powers, for amplify-and-forward single-antenna relay-based wireless communication networks. We derive a closed-form solution for the total power constraint optimization problem and show that the individual relay power constraints optimization problem is a quad...
